So my year old chickens (some out of 9 got sick about a month ago). Nasal discharge, purring, coughing, sneezing some of thier mouths even open. They also had very pale combs. I don't think it's gapeworm. I didn't see any of the signs. I used vet rx every day and night for a week. Garlic and Oregano in their water. They started getting better. Still using vitamin water. They are still laying eggs. I dewormed them with piper. Now all of a sudden everyone is sick again! Everyone!!! Very pale combs. They are eating. Drinking. Foraging outside. It's driving me nuts!!!

I want to add that I just did a full cleaning of the coop a month ago when they got sick. I see not mites. Lice etc.

Vet rx is not a medicine, it's just vicks for chickens.
Be careful with adding garlic as it is toxic to chickens. (Causes blood thinning)
Any bubbly eyes?
What's their diet? Where did they come from?

Ohhh. I was watching so many videos and they said to use garlic in the water. Crap!!!

No bubbles in eyes however some of their faces are slightly swollen. Slight.

They free range half the day. The rest of the time they are eating a mix of Purina golden layer with cracked corn and sunflower seeds on top of all the veggies. Fruit eggs and whatever else I have on hand daily.

They seem to be acting normal

I'm in canada and the problem seems to be we cant get anything medical here without going to a vet. 😫

A little garlic won't hurt but it's a tricky balance not to go overboard. Many videos are made by people just repeating what they've heard without fact checking.
Treats like corn, sunflower seeds, fruits, vegetables ect. Should be less than 10% of their diet or given in small amounts every other day. Treats dilute the nutrition of the feed.
Can you get any low grade antibiotics at all like for fish? They might not need it.
Could it be dusty?

The coop is clean. Did a huge overhaul on it after they got sick. They don't spend much time in it latley. There is 1 chicken that lays a wrinkled egg. None of the other do. IB?

They don't get a ton of extras a day. Mainly the pellets and foraging bugs etc. I was giving them quite a bit of scrambled eggs and Tuna when they were sick. They did get much better . I thought it was over with. Now back at it.

Just looking at how pale the combs are worries me.

Unfortunately we can't get much here. I do have cephlaxin fish stuff. By the time anything else gets here may be weeks. Do you have anything in mind? Fishmox?

Can you get a picture of their combs?

By "sick again" do you mean the same symptoms, exactly? Or are the combs pale and otherwise they're good?

It might just be that the seasonal change is stressing them out, and they are therefore looking a bit off. If you have raw, local honey you can try adding 2tbs/gallon of water and raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar at the same amount. The honey is a old style antibiotic, and the acv is a probiotic, so *if* it's just some stress, that'll help. I also add nutri-drench to my birds' water if I think they might be getting sick. IDK what Canada has, or if you can get that kind of thing there.
