The best thing for you to do is not open the incubator again if you can help it. Once one pips, lock it down. He/she will be fine until a day or two after he/she hatches. If you open the incubator now that it's pipped, you could potentially throw of the humidity to such an extent that the membrane literally shrink-wraps the chick inside, making it possible for it to make its way out.
Another thing that you can do is get someone to massage your neck because if you are anything like me, you are gonna stare into the window of that incubator day and night until every last chick has hatched & you have a sore neck! LOL!
It pokes its beak out a lot! I'm so excited! The brown thingie is a piece of damp paper towel because it the membrane was starting to get really dry. Seems to be working well.
