It does a lot. I feel bad and guilty about losing that chick. I am just thinking to give away the other chicks to someone else, as I don't want to see them as they're the one who've done this. I feel a lot sad and confused. The three survived ones are picking each other now, as I am already furious on them. I should give away to poultry or someone. Right?I'm sorry! It really stinks to lose them? Sometimes they're just so weak that despite our best efforts they just do not make it! At least you made it happy![]()
But what about the suffering? I'm grieving over the one, who died a while ago. What if one more dies in a day or two because of the same problem? I agree, they are fun and I do love them. But, I think I am not good enough to take a good care of them or I am failure in this thing. I should give up sadly.Chicks peck at each other. Some are bullies and need to be put in a time out so that they learn. Others are just mean and cannot be taught. We have culled an overly aggressive chick before. But for the mont part they will calm down. They need lots of room or they will become bored and peck at each other. Chickens are very fun and given time you will be very happy with them!
How about I give away the aggressor one and keep the other two? They seem good, as they don't pick or do anything. They're quite active and good, TBH.Watch them.....do you have one that is the aggressor? If so, separate it for a few days in the same box with the chicks...you want it to be ale to see them, but not get at them. After a few days you should be able to introduce it back. Just know that it is normal for light pecking, just not serious aggression.
After our last bully that we had to get rid of, I was traumatized and every little peck would freak me out. It did get better![]()
