Help!!!! I've been holding the abandoned egg next to my body all day and it is now peeping! Any way I can save this chick? What would be the warmest part of my body to put the egg next to to help the chick out? I don't have an incubator. It was due to hatch today and the Mama abandoned it to focus on her live hatched chicks. What should I do? !

I put it under my armpit, and the shell just cracked, and he's peeping. Moved him to inside my panties. I am sooooo nervous.

So afraid something will go wrong, Do you think the hen would take back the egg at this point. It's slightly cracked, but he's not out yet.

well let us know if he hatches

it sounds like he will be out soon

and if the hen abandoned him i don't think she is going to take him back you could try to secretly slip him back under her if you want though

I'm really new at this myself but I want to comment to make sure this stays at the top of the thread! My broody hen's eggs might be hatching today and I hope this doesn't happen to us as well! My gut instinct is perhaps put it on a heating pad and a tea towel if you have one? Don't panic, Mother Nature is a tough cookie. As long as it stays warm it'll be okay in the egg because it has nutrients from the yolk.

I hope everything turns out okay!

You realize it can take up to 24 hours for the chick to fully hatch.
If the chick hatch. I would put it back under her at night when all the other chicks are under her.

Egg tooth is out, pecking away. I hope he succeeds in breaking the shell. Strong peeps now and then.
