I went out to my chicken coop this morning and one of my chickens was acting strange. She was standing by the water bucket and wouldn't move a muscle.
My chickens like me but they don't let me pet them or pick them up. She stood there while I petted her for a little bit. I talked to her at that time too, but the only thing to move on her was her head.
I completed my daily clean and kept an eye on her. She finally settled down into the bedding but still hadn't moved from her place. After I finished, I came back to get her. One of the other chickens acted like she was going to peck her on the head just as I was ready to pick her up.
I took her in the house. She looked around while we walked across the yard and flew out of my arms while I was changing my shoes. Once she landed, she didn't move any further.
She is now in a box with towels under her. If it were not for an occasional blink and seeing her body rise and fall gently with breathing, I would think she was dead! There are no obvious signs of injury. She has a little white near her vent on her feathers. Her comb is not bright red but not pale either. Any ideas what I can do to help her or what is wrong with her would be greatly appreciated.
