Help, help, weather permitting, will start building chicken coop this weekend. Have to get going, have to get 8 wk old hens in two weeks. Have plywood for floor. Was going to get treated but was too expensive and anyway guy at Lowes said treated not good to have where chickens are. So am wondering if it would be ok to paint with polyurethane or marine varnish if it has 2 weeks to outgas. If that not ok, guess I'll try to scrounge up some linoleum to protect plywood floor. Rest of inside of coop will in any case be bare, untreated lumber and plywood.

I completely agree, prime and paint with semigloss works real well. If you *want* to use varnish or polyurethane that's ok too, of course. At least for polyurethane, it ain't gonna take any two weeks for the fumes to blow off (it's been too long since I used varnish for me to remember how long *that* takes).

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
