How did your flock annoy you today?

I swear my chickens. Shirley has a chick feeder in the pen because tiny bantam babies. She keeps kicking dirt all into the feeder so the chicks would have a time trying to find food to eat. She did this at least 3 times today where I had to clean out the feeder. We must not forget the growling and puffing up when I reached in to clean up her mess lol. Periscope and Pewter finally decided to be brave and approach me which was awesome! Until my dog noticed and got jealous I was talking to somebody else and came running because she knows her running scares them. O and we had a mini riot because some of them like to dust bath under the husband's boat in the shade but today he decided to move it to wash it and nobody was happy their spot was tampered with so that was loud. Also I was asked by my neighbor if she could have JJ my young EE cockeral so he will be moving a house down this week.

How do roosters make everything look more fun??

Today I had to separate my
over-zealous cockerels out of the chick pen,(because they were mating with pullets 2-4 weeks younger, and definitely not ready).
So I get them all into the cage and sprinkle some feed on the ground for them.
In 2 minutes, they had at least a dozen pullets trying with their lives to get into the cage!
“Guys! You literally have TWO ENTIRE FEEDERS! Why do you want a one handful??!!!!”
So I sprinkle some feed on the ground for them too…. They don’t even look.:he
“Great job saying ‘Thanks for being a great owner’, guys.”🙄
🤣🤣🤣🤦‍♀️

If it makes you feel better we have been in the high 90°'s to triple digits here and my flock was hot and such. Today we had a "cold front" and we only hit a high of 75°. My entire flock was miserable and just huddled in clumps for "warmth" or something today. Like shouldn't they be happy it is cooler? Nope not my flock of weirdos.:idunno

Laverne sounds like her Happy Meal has a few more fries than Shirley’s…
🤣🤣🤣
I’m so glad she’s still alive.
That has been a dream of mine, that a missing hen would come waltzing back home a month later, with a little batch of puffy chickies following her!🥰🥰
A few years ago we had one missing and thought she had been grabbed, only to hear a racket near the henhouse 3 weeks later: lo and behold, there she was with 7 (!) chicks in tow trying to get into the run.

This was totally unexpected as we also just had 2 broodies hatching 6 eggs, so all of sudden we had to separate 3 broodies with a total of 13 chicks. It never goes to plan.

Today doing my routine egg check around my hedge I heard chicks peeping. I ran inside for a flashlight and found Shirley who keeps disappearing sitting 3 feet high and 1.5 to 2 feet deep INSIDE the hedge with at least 2 hatched babies and more eggs under her but she is in a spot I can't reach her safely so yay. I can sort of lift up part of her (with my welding gloves on she is mean!) But the chicks are hiding in her wings and such so I can't truly grab her and yank her out without hurting some babies or having her kick out at the eggs under her and send them flying.
That is pretty impressive! Very good mother that one is 😍

This year, I had 4 broodies hatch in 1 month, and yes, definitely the separation drama was big!😆🙄

I walked outside to a low of 68 this morning and was thrilled! 😂
