HELP!! Very Strange Problem!! :-(

I have not had a chicken with these symptoms before but my cat has done this. I came home and noticed both of her water bowls were empty, one is a 1 gallon automatic waterer that had been filled that day. I refilled them and she wouldn't stop drinking. I rushed her to the vet who told me that excessive thirst is a sign of infection. After $1100 + , antibiotics, and a very invasive surgery, she is now the healthiest and most expensive free cat around.

I had a white rock hen go though something very similar last year. She was sitting by herself panting and looked stressed. I took her out of the yard and away from the others. She drank tons of water and very little feed. Also she seemed to have a very messy rear. I put her in a grass lot alone for about two weeks. She started eating again and seemed to recover. My friend took her for a pet. She is still living today.Ialso remember the water was coming back out of her mouth and nostrils a little bit at the time.

Funny about the infection thing because I was convince the WR hen had some sort of infection at the time. She also did not want to stand up alot when this thing was going on. Almost like she was injured somewhere.
