I've had them in my compost too...also in my garage...I thought they were horsefly larvae at the time. shudders

It could b some sort of fly I have noticed a slight increase in blue bottles especially for this time of year but I've never in all my years keeping poultry or animals seen this

Yep I see it...I have no idea what those are. Sort of look like roaches or something. Your chickens won't eat them?

They r in breeding pens atm so I can get a few PB chick before showing season starts again (if it starts)
And I have a bramha pair and the hen is always out when I'm there otherwise she goes crazy and she avoided them and shed b one of my most curious hens

My first thought was roach egg cases. But I think the others are right they’re probably cocoons for fly larvae.

Definitely fly pupae!

Good news is it isn't mites, at least. Ironically I did find a few of those fly larva/pupa myself today while treating my coop for mites.

I'm still finding lots more of them so I swept them up and put them with my larger hens and they all seemed to enjoy them I think they r just fly larva

If you really want to know what they are, scoop some dirt and pupae up in a jar and wait for them to 'hatch'.
