Somehow, the waterer flooded the brooder and my tiniest quail was lying in it and now is panting and wet. I have wiped it off and it is under the heat lamp. It won't dry and she is panting and standing still. She seems weak and unsteady. I gave her some honey water, but she is not doing well.

Can someone give me a suggestion??? Please!!

if she's panting i'd take her out of the heat lamp it sounds like she's over heated?? If she feels cold though ofcourse keep her under the heat lamp. You can blow dry her i dont know how old this bird is, but even a young chick you can blwo dry....just hold it in your hand and put the blow dryer on low and waft the air at it a few seconds then off of it a few seconds keep doing this until the bird is dry...if your hand is hot then the bird is even hotter so be sure that the heat only feels warm on your hand (which is why i suggest holding the bird so you nkow how hot or cool to keep it while blwo drying).

Wow... do birds every dry??? I thought MY hair took a long time. I have been blow drying her and she still looks like a drowned rat... But she is starting to preen a little which is a good sign. She seems to be feeling better.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

Sounds like she just got water in her nose and had to breath through her beak (which looked like panting) she's probably calmed down some from her experience and is able to dry off. Yeah they do take abit esp if soaked completely which it sounds like she was lol!!! Hopefully she dries soon and is in mint condition and back to her happy coturnix self soon!

The little chick that got wet is doing fine. I kept her and 3 others in their own pen last night.

But now, one of the OTHER chicks is dead. She was fine when I got home from work. I don't know why???? I feel so bad for her. She was a little wet last night... but not much.
