Today I found one of my chicks looking very sleepy I would just stand somewhere and fall asleep like I was doing there weekly photo shoot and they just fell asleep, I was giving it treats and it fell asleep will pecking at it, it won’t do anything if I pick it up I can flip it over so it’s feet are in the air and it still won’t do anything, also it is the lightest at 49.11g while it’s siblings are is the upper 60s.

Please please please let me know what to do for it and how to help, I will answer any questions you have and I hope you have some answers for me.

BTW I don’t have any eggs on hand I do have some like baby vitamin stuff (I forget what it’s called)

Hope you have a wonderful day 🙃

I’d suggest getting some eggs and feeding it some yolk. I also would suggest giving it nutridrench. Keeping it hydrated is very important so you can give it electrolytes or sugar water, or sometimes people use a bit of Gatorade for just a bit. Some chicks fail to thrive like others. I wouldn’t hold it upside down as this has been known to suffocate birds even if they act calm. Good luck and keep us updated.

Thank you I have been giving it enfamil multivitamin polyvisol fingres crossed that helps, she will drink if I use a dropper on the side of her beak but I haven’t tried to get it to eat yet. It did have pasty butt but I just cleared it up about 3 hours ago.

Thank you again for all the help hope you have a wonderful day 😊🙂🙃

He was vaccinated for mareks disease and we were feeding it medicated feed
The reason why I said “were” is because he didn’t make it 😞
Still unknown why he passed but hopefully he had a good life.
So sorry for your loss! It’s so hard, I know, you tried your best to help the chick, and he was loved very much while he lived. Sometimes it’s best when nature takes its course, I know it’s really hard but that chick probably would have suffered had it lived. Some chicks just don’t do well unfortunately. Hang in there. Sending hugs :hugs

Thank you so so much that really made me feel a lot better

I’m sorry for your loss. It’s heartbreaking. I was looking for posts on this topic because I was having the same issue. One of my chicks was so sleepy I couldn’t hardly get her to open her eyes.

I warmed her up by holding her along with one of the other chicks in my palms for about an hour. I just sat with them while watching tv.

After she got warmed up she opened her eyes. They both got up and ate egg and she is doing well. I think I was having an issue because of my brooder temperature. I just wanted to post this in case it can help someone?
