No, Mareks is all over and I doubt your full grown bird just came down with it. Maybe it's just his time. I've lost plenty of birds for unknown reasons. Heck, DB just dies last week. As long as the symptoms don't spread to other birds you don't have anything to worry about.
After reading other posts... I've realized my mistakes. I got eggs in the mail from friends but I've also gotten hatchery chicks so some were vaccinated and some weren't. I didn't know this bit of info. that Marek's was spread like that... in fact, I was pretty ignorant of all chicken illnesses and I lived in la la land all these years and have never had problems. Live and learn I guess, huh?
Although I must admit he's a cool roo and he's starting to eat some yogurt and he likes when all us girls> me and my 2 little girls go in there and take him out of the cage and pet him and give him attention.
oh and something Zoe found above the base of the tail on him is this growth and it's pointy like a pencil tip... a dull one. Is that a gland? What the heck is that? It's flesh colored. It doesn't look like those skin tags old dogs get either. You know what it looks like? One of those rooster horns but on his butt. Does that make any sense?
