For the past few days my year old buckeye rooster has been ill and weak ,. Runny nose, wont stand when he does he looks wobley or sleepy, drinking lots of electrolytes , eating a little layer crumble and chick starter with brown bread and egg. Last poop i seem was very runny brown and green glop, no worms in it . Im really not sure what to do , i confined him away from others and have just put him outside for a little in the warm fresh air but hes just laying there, Please i dont want to loose him , does it just sound like a cold?

It's a very slow day here due to the holiday and nice weather. Do a search here for "respiratory illness" . There are several tacks you can take once you've diagnosed the issue. Best of luck to you and your roo.

Did you try "respiratory illness" in the search line on the right hand side? I've seen these symptoms posted with lost of valuable answers... I just can't recall what they are. You might need to get antibiotics at the feed store... I wish I could recall the treatment for resiratory illnesses. . Do try the search box -- it's real handy.

I would give him some Tylan as that seems to cure any respiratory problems. You can get it in an injectable form or one that mixes with drinking water. You should check out the following website and consult with their online poultry doctor – Peter Brown. Their advice is generally free when you are buying medicine from them.

Best of luck!

Get some Tylan 50 and some diabetic needles and shoot him up in the breast meat 1/2 cc for 3 days straight. He probably has a respitory infection due to the runny nose and sleepy eyes...I have dealt with respitory infection and it can be extremely quick and ruthless. Don't waste your money on the soluable powdered antibiotics....I just about ODed on of my birds trying to save her and it didn't even put a dent in the res. infection. Tylan 50 is pretty cheap, lasts a loooonnnnnggggg time and you should see a big difference within 3 days. Alternate the injection site daily (left side breast, next day right side breast) The bottle of tylan 50 I have has come in handy on so many occasions... Good Luck with your ROO!!!
