I just went out to collect eggs from this morning and found this egg! At first I thought it was from my Cayuga, but it washed off the bloom and it was a white egg. Any ideas what will cause this? I cracked it open and the the inside looked good.

The dark egg is Cayuga..What breeds do you have?
Yes I have a Cayuga! I thought that’s what it was at first, then I assumed the shell was dark too, not just the bloom.
I have Cayuga, welsh harlequin, khaki Campbells, blue and black Swedish, silverapple yard and a buff

Someone else laid the white egg.

Have you ever had your Cayuga lay before this egg?
No I haven’t. I just got her a month or so ago from someone who needed to rehome her. This is the first egg I got that looked like that. I was able to wash it off and it was a white egg under, that’s why I was a little concerned.
