So background all my chicks were vaccinated for cociodosus before shipment. I have jad them a week today this is the first i have seen of this. Although out of my16 chicks i have been washing 4 bums a day for pasty butt.

When i came out to check on them i noticed this.

Pasty butt is not a disease or a treatable condition. It ranges in severity from the benign to the most serious disease in all of chickendom. a. k. a. Pullerum disease, Typhoid, or Bacillus White Diarrhea.

cociodosus is characterized by lose bloody stool coupled with fast fading and un-thriftiness to the point of a fast death. There are 7 (I think) major cocciodosus strains and the vaccine is different for each and every one. Medicated baby chick feed (IMHO) is a much better option because it doesn't contain 'medicine' and work's to coffer resistance to all strains of the disease. Just remember that medicated chick feed voids any good effect your chicks may get from the vaccine.
