HELP! Welshie pooping yolk and crushed shells

Did that link I gave you on meds not give the direction on dosage?

We need to get in touch with @casportpony

Yes it did!! Thank you for pointing that out. I saw the photo but no typing to go with it. I didn't realize the dosage was on the photo.

Should I separate her from the others or dump out their pool so that this is their only source of water?

Is that the picture that says the dose is 2.5 tablespoons? If so, that is wrong, and I contacted the mfg about it. If it's the package I think it is, there are about 18 tablespoons of powder, and the 800mg dose would be 1.5 tablespoons, not 2.5 tablespoons. Please confirm which package you have. :D

I have this package:

Quote:
Okay... Two different people have counted out number of tablespoons and both of them counted ~18, which means each tablespoon weighs about 10 grams. Package weighs 181.5 grams, so it's 181.5
grams ÷ 18 tbs = 10.08 grams per tablespoon

Package weighs 181.5g
Package contains10 grams of oxytetracycline
Package is therefore 181.5 ÷ 10 = 0.055 = 5.5% pure (94.5% filler)
5.5% means there are 55mg per gram
One tablespoon weighs ~10 grams, so 10 x 55 = 550mg in one tablespoon.
1.5 table spoons is 1.5 x 550 = 825mg.

Also note that I have weighed the tetracycline power and one tablespoon of it weighs about 11 grams, so I'm pretty darn sure the oxytetracycline will be about the same.

Thank you so much for figuring this out for me. You are pretty amazing for doing this! Please excuse me that none of it makes sense to me. Is the dose per gallon 1.5 Tablespoons? Also, Should I separate her from the others or just dose all of them and removed the pool as a water source?

So for simple minded people K what does this all mean how much to a gal of water and should she separate and also not let her have pool water in other words her only source of water should be the one with the meds?sorry Disney we were typing at the same time

@casportpony ?

So sorry, my bad... the dose is 1.5 tablespoons per gallon and it must be the only source of water (no ponds, pools, creeks, puddles, etc). Best not to medicate the other fowl if possible.

@DisneyDuckies
If you have time, can you count out the number of tablespoons per package? Would be good for me to have a third person verify this.

Once I get a third person to do this I will contact the mfg in writing (last time I called).
