Help! What breed and gender is this?

We are just about 4 for 4 but cannot figure out this last one. She/he is very docile and has attempted to crow, but in a very croaky way and has since stopped and is not attempting to mount or chase the other hens. Our other one crows up a storm morning, afternoon and night and is mounting. Just can't figure this one out though. Any insight would be helpful! Thanks

I agree, most likely a cochin cross. And he's just a subordinate roo. If you removed your loud dominant roo, he'd start crowing a storm too.

I know you two are MUCH more knowledgable than I am as I am just learning...but my Cochin (before the hawk got her two days ago) had such heavily feathered feet and legs you had to hunt for skin. Feathers on her feet were at least 3" long. She was just a hatchery chicken obtained from a feed store not quite 4 months ago. I would have guessed something else on this chicken. Do some Cochins have such lightly feathered legs and feet?

i would guess that he has a barred mom, maybe a barred rock mom and a white cochin dad (which would make a sex link were the cockerels would be barred) that would help explain the barring and yellow legs but keep in mind their is also barred cochins then you have white rocks, white leghorns ect.

still going with a barred mom and some sort of white breed for its dad

I can see a cross. When I looked out and saw the feathers flying, that was I could see!!! I thought at first one of my BR roosters was tearing up a chick (my Cochin was a Cuckoo). The feathers were so dense in the air that I couldn't see the hawk until my dog and I got almost on it!!!
