Purchased at TS and not 100% what breeds we ended up with. Sadly we lost one that was similar to the brown one pictured, but her legs were more yellow.

Thank you everyone!!! We had an incident with a dog :/. I think it was my SS we lost :(. Spent the day double checking all areas of safety for them..I feel horrible!

I raised goats as a kids, and really want my daughter to learn how to raise/care for animals. Watching them grow and change is so fun! My husband wasn't all about a goat in our backyard :D.

I had show chickens, but these little gals have already stole our hearts...never got attached to my show chickens for obvious reasons.

I have learned a lot from this page! Trying to decide if we "NEED" 4 more...:love

Well...perhaps you don’t NEED 4 more but...they’re soooo fun!! :ya
Now you need Speckled Sussex and may I suggest Black Australorp and Orpingtons (there’s many colors).

Where else besides TS is a good place to buy chickens? Down side to TS is they are not pro's at knowing the breeds (nor am I)...I thought I was getting an Ameraucana and instead it is a EE

I recently ordered chicks from Meyer Hatchery.
They all arrived healthy and active.
I’ve also gotten chicks from TS but I’ve studied a lot about breeds and what the chicks look like.
My local TS isn’t too bad in terms of ignorant employees but I do understand how frustrating that can be.
Meyer actually has a chick ID thing on their website. It’s pretty handy.

The Ameracauna/EE thing is a common problem even with some of the hatcheries.
The best way to know the difference is that Ameracaunas will always be sold as a specific color: white, black, blue, splash, wheaten, etc.
They usually will cost more.
If the chick is $3-4, it’s probably an EE.
The EE color cannot be determined because it varies.
You can order as few as 3 chicks from Meyer, Cackle & My Pet Chicken hatcheries.
Shipping costs vary by hatchery.
Meyer was $35.
I got 13 chicks and one died later of an obstructed crop.
They are beautiful chicks.
