Rescued these two from some harsh conditions about a week ago. The darker one looks to me like a speckled sussex. Not sure about the other. Any ideas? Thanks!
They both need bathes, especially the white one. The 2nd one is a Speckled Sussex hen and the white one is too dirty to really tell. White Rock cockerel or Red sex-link cockerel?
Do you know what type of comb the top one has? If it is a rose comb I think it is a Wyandotte.
I don't think that the bird is as dirty as it has some Gold coloring leaking through.
Welcome to BYC but please be advised this is a very family friendly board. Would you mind editing your title to remove the borderline profanity? Thanks
the white one is a cockerel breed unknown until comb is known the other looks like a sussex. both appear to need to be treated for lice on their body's and the sussex has a very bad case of leg mites so she will need her legs treated as well. if you have put them in with your other birds then you will need to treat the rest of your flock along with the whole coop including nest boxes and the whole run and this may take several months to rid the flock of if those to have bad mites.
when you get new birds it is always best to isolate them from the rest of the flock for a month. i treat new birds for lice/mites on both their body and legs along with a worming just in case. this helps to see if they are sick at all and will help prevent the lose of the whole flock due to an introduced illness.
