ok...just gave some pedialite (kids stuff)...sugar water basically. she loved it. got her to open her eyes. put her back to rest. how often and how much should i give it to her???

I would try the pedialtye maybe ever half hour (just a few drops) until she really perks up...also give plain water too. There are several on here that give their babies yogurt...I've never done it, but maybe it would give them something without having to work to hard to digest (?) I don't know.....I hope your baby does well....keep letting us know:fl
ALso, sugar will give them diarreah so watch for pasty butt

great news. What I have done is put it in the main drinking waterer for all my chicks for the first day or so. I will agree with every couple of hours with the pedialite until she gets her strength up. I would also offer her a little chick starter that is watered down into a paste to get a little nutrients in her if you think she is up for it.

I am having this same problem. I went to our local TSC and they just got a shipment of chicks. I saw one getting trampled by the other chicks and I pick it up and it was still breathing and would chirp. I could not bare leaving it there to be left for dead so I brought it home!

Please keep me posted on this and what you have been doing so I can too try the same. I took the advice on the sugar water and she is drinking it. I hope our chicks get better.

Bless you for rescuing that baby! Just watch the baby for runny poo as sugar water will cause that. Runny poo will cause pasty butt which is not a problem if cleaned up right away...you may already know this, hope your baby does well

I was wondering if keeping it under the heat would dehydrate it more? It is not able to move around so I want to make sure I am putting it somewhere it will feel best at. What temperature should I keep it at?

Is it by itself or do you have others? YOu can tell if the heat is right by observing the well chicks...I never worry about temp. I just watch the behavior. CHicks need to be kept warm, though. So you can't let it get too cold...that wouldn't help. Have you tried the pedialyte, gatoraide or sugar water?
