Well I have other chicks but I got them from a local breeder and when I went to TSC tonight to get a new feeder, I noticed they had chicks and realized this one was sick and getting trampled! I was told not to put the sick one in with the others cause they could risk getting sick or they would just trample the sick one. So i have the sick one in a separate box right now, its only but a few days old and the clerk at TSC told me it was just shipped in today. I have her the sugar water and it drank 4 droplets of it and she is laying under the lamp right now. She is responsive and does chirp but she is very weak and can not move.

well since you don't have any other chicks to observe near her, you should have the heat at about 90 degrees. The sugar may really help her, if its dehydration. you can also mash some chick crumbles with some water and try to see if she'll take it. Usually, if they are really dehydrated, it will be a while before they eat, but try anyway Hope this helps

Thank you for your help i will keep on watching and taking care of her and praying she makes it! Believe it or not when she was at TSC she was prolly an hour away from death and now she is trying to stand and even drinking water on her own! I am about to cry cause she is being such a lil trooper and I am so proud of her for making the effort and trying to survive!

how long before she might perk up?
is it days, hours, ???

she has opened her eyes a few times and flopped over when i was giving her water; however, she just looks like she is on her way out.

i do hope she is strong enough and will recover.

I really hope your chick gets better! I brought mine home from TSC and she looked really bad after reading this forum I gave her sugar water and she looked better and was able to drink on her own only after 30 min. I have her in a box by herself with fresh shavings and under a heat lamp at 90 degrees. I gave her 4 droplets of sugar water and after only about 20 min I tried this again and this time she attempted to stand up and drink on her own. She took 4 more droplets and was standing then afterwards she sat back down. I am gonna keep checking on her every half hour.

If the water is going to help, you should start to see SOME improvement soon, like in the next few hours. But you know how it feels to be dehydrated....it takes a while to get over it, especially if you are a newborn! I would think by tomorrow afternoon you should be seeing improvement if it is going to happen. Please keep us updated...I am really interested in what happens
