HELP what happened to her Bum (WARNING GRAPHIC PIC)

If you are having frigid weather like we are I would advise to gradually get her use to the change in temps. first then put her back in with the flock after everyone has gone to roost and it's dark so when they wake up she'll just be part of the flock again. But be ready to intervene if things start going down hill.

wow, read this whole post and she is such a beautiful chicken and you have a very good looking boy. wat a treasure!

she looks like she has gotten much better..
id say it would have had to be an animal

good luck with the rest of the healing process!

Thanks Joey8765. MissLydia how do i gradually get her use to being outside? and how long should i do that for?

I am in Pa, southeastern, we are getting snow today and the temps have been in the 30's or the most part

oh and do i have to wait for the wound to be completely gone and feathers grown all back or as long as it is looking good can she go back?

....................................sorry I didn't see you post of where you are. What temps has she been in in your house? You'll need to acclimate her gradually or cold temps could make her sick...do you have a cooler room or unheated porch that closed in? you'll have to start of slow. ....You can try her back with the rest but be ready to get her out if they start to peck at it. Chickens love to peck at wounds. Do you have blue kote it might help to cover it up since it's purple......................I'll be off for awhile[ gotta feed dh] but I'll talk to ya later

Did you ever figure out what was happening to her (and to the other injured chickens -- I think I remember you mentioning similar injuries).

well it has been warm in my house, i could put her in the wash room it is chilllier in there, and then mayve after a few days i can put her in the garage, it is not heated and cold in there so that would help her get acclimated.

I have not figured out what it is, we havent gotten any traps yet but we got totes for the food and have them in closed bins to help better with maybe the smell of the food, we shall see.
