Help! What is this little fella? Mystery from McMurray

Went in on an order with a friend and received one extra. We both had bantams and had trouble identifiying what we had ordered let alone the the mystery chick. I had 4 Ameraucanas (each one looked diff) , plus one died en route maybe one of the Amer. We think we ended up with the mystery chick. What do you think s/he is? 1 week old, 4 toes, clean yellow feet and ??? on the comb? Plus he is VERY LOUD!!!!! Please tell me..... BTW he is no larger than all the other bantams even after 1 week.

Cute baby, looks like it has a rosecomb, maybe a pea comb. Does it have puffy cheeks? I'm thinking it could be one of your easter eggers (what hatcheries call Ameraucanas). Looking through my McMurray catalog, that's the only possibility I'm seeing, with that comb and coloration.

Thank you! It could be an EE. I don't really think it has puffy cheeks.... but that doesn't rule out EE does it? I wondered the same thing because it's legs are not the willow color. What color will it be? The wing feathers are pretty light.

Does anybody else want to take a gander at it? I will post more pictures as it grows so I can find out if I got the mystery chick or if it was my 4th EEer.

My EE chicks haven't all started out willow, but kind of evolve into it as they grow up. They all have had muffs and beards, though. I know others have had some without, but not mine.

I'm looking at the bantams McMurray has with peacombs or rosecombs. There are brahmas, which have feathered legs. So that's not your baby.

There are sebrights, which I've never had, so I don't know. Your baby doesn't look like the other sebright babies I've seen on here, and it doesn't look like the silver sebright chicks in the catalog.

There are wyandottes, but only partridge in the bantams. Your baby is definitely not a partridge wyandotte.

There are cornish, and your baby isn't a white cornish. Could it be a white laced red cornish? That is a possibility, I think. The chicks look kind of reddish, and so does yours. Maybe that's what you've got?

The only other possibility is an easter egger.

There's a pic of a white laced red cornish at the bottom of that page, and it looks a lot like your baby. It doesn't have any wing feathers coming in to compare, but the coloring is just right.

So that's my conclusion... you have a white laced red cornish bantam! Taa-daaaaa!

LOL Now we just have to wait and see if I'm right!

LOOKS EXACTLY like one I got from them last year in my Rainbow Layers.

Looked like a Delaware but with a pea comb. Legs were lighter.... HE WOULDN'T stop crowing and was driving my wife nuts so we rehomed him.

So, White Laced Red Cornish. I looked up on the link and yes I can see what you are talking about. So I should look for those short thick legs to crop up at any time. Do they come in Bantam? Also, (if I am so lucky as to have a pullet there and not a cockeral) what color egg? White? Good Layer?

Yes, they come in bantam form from McMurray. They lay brown eggs, and probably not a ton of them. I don't think I've heard a lot of praise for cornish girls' egg laying abilities, but maybe you'll be surprised!

Here's Henderson's Chicken Breed Chart. They rate them "poor" in egg-laying abilities. But hatchery birds are usually better layers than breeder birds, so maybe she'll do better.
