I don’t know what is wrong with this hen! She’s been like this for awhile, her crop is not full or hard. But her neck is protruding way out like a “S” causing her head to be way back. She does not forage and eat like the others. She does seem off balance sometimes. I don’t have a chicken vet but want to help her.

Wry neck is a twisted neck or torticoils, where the neck can be twisted to one side, upward, downward, or in an S. It is a neurological symptom, sometimes from a vitamin E or B1 thiamine deficiency, a head or neck injury, or is sometimes seen in certain diseases affecting the brain. I would give her vitamin E and some chopped scrambled egg for a couple of weeks. Thiamine is good also, and found in human B complex.

Is her crop enlarged, firm, doughy, or puffy? Sometimes when the crop is enlarged, it can make the neck look crooked. The crop early innthe morning, should be empty and flat, and gradually fill up during the day as she eats and drinks.

No swelling, her crop is not full at all.
