I have a day old hatch of 20. My adult flock is a mix of 1 BR roo, 1 Buff Brahma roo, and hens that are: Domeniques, BR, Buff Brahma, Buff Orphington, New Hampshire Red, 1 Red Sex link and some Delawares...all the chicks are dark blackish with light belly and butt and some have light spots on heads some have lesser distingushable spots on heads and all seem to have black on legs to some degree.
Question is...does anyone think that all these chicks are fathered by the BR roo cause they are all mostly black, or can any of them be from the Buff Brahma roo? And, seeing as they are all looking similar to what I've seen BR chicks look like...will they all turn out to be black and white barred? And is there any way to sex them by coloring considering the multitude of possible mothers?
