My issue is with the unclassified bantams I purchased from a feed store. 2hens - 1roo. We call them -the good, the bad and the ugly. THE UGLY has 5 eggs, THE BAD has laid 2 really soft eggs. Which we had to discard. The bad is really fiesty and seems to be the good's main chick. The ugly has a bare bottom and I am not sure if its cause she is picking at herself, or the bad keeps chasing her away from the roo. I DUNNO! Anywho, these 3 live in the same coop. Are the 5 eggs okay from all the drama? And how many eggs will this Ugly Bantam lay before she stops? If either hen strays too far, the Roo calls them in. Any suggestions, comments or pecks are very much appreciated.

Sorry - I'm having a hard a time understanding your post but I'll give this a shot.

I think you are saying that The Ugly is broody?? sitting on five eggs???

Are you wanting to know if they are fertile? If she will continue to sit on them? Or what? If she's broody and is still laying eggs to sit on most hens will stop laying when they feel they have an appropriate number of eggs to sit on. A bantam would probably be good sitting on around 7 eggs (I think - someone can correct me if I'm wrong.)

Bare bottoms can be caused by chickens pecking at each other or mites or other crawlies. You need to check her for anything that might be infesting her.

What size coop are these chickens in?
