So I noticed today that one of my dark brahma chicks is a lot smaller than the other, so I started watching it a little more closely. It's been sluggish, not interested in food or water, and not pooping. It's also been doing this weird thing where it looks like it's choking and trying to shake something out of it's throat, and itching its neck/head a lot. After reading some similar cases I separated it from the other chicks, gave it boiled egg and yogurt, and some water with sugar and a heat lamp. It just sits there either falling asleep or crying really loud. I took a small syringe(no needle of course) and gave it some water and was able to get it to eat a little. After that I let it warm up and rest, but it still hasnt pooped. It's vent looks fine, but it is very red and skinny (the bones seem to stick out in the rear). I decided to give it a little bath, which really calmed it down and it seemed to enjoy it, and blow dried it which it also seemed to like. But still no poop. The other chicks usually poop on me after only a few minutes of being held (perhaps to spite me). I thought the feed we had was medicated, but im not sure now--it's Nutrena Nature Wise, it says it has probiotics and yeast, but NO antibiotics.
What should I do? Do I need to go to the store and get meds? How long do I have before it's too late?
Thanks for any help or advice you can offer...
Edit: it also seems to have a very slimy mouth/ spit bubbles....
