Help! When do eggs usually pip?

Just to clarify I’m hatching chicken eggs. The temperature has been stable 37.5 C (99.5 F) and humidity has been 35-40 and now it’s 55% since i also have some quail eggs in the incubator that aren’t ready for lockdown yet so I didn’t want to raise the humidity too much. But I’ve read that 55% humidity for lockdown is fine if you had a slightly lower humidity in the first 18 days. Still haven’t seen anything. Would it be safe to candle to see what’s going on?

If you can candle without moving the eggs that would be the best way to go about it. If the chicks are still positioning themselves for hatch you don’t want to mess with it too much.

Oh no! I just realised that the temperature had gone up to 38.1 C (100.6 F) for about 3-4 days. I noticed this today so it has been 38.1 C for about 4 days now and when I candled my chicken egg i unfortunately think it died :(. I also have some quail eggs in the incubator. Do you think they have they survived the temperature fluxuation? Before i was incubating on 37.6 C (99.5 F)

I have a riversystems (borotto) incubator and there’s two water trays one for incubating and one for hatching. Basically when you pour water into both water trays the air flow will get blocked off and the temp will raise. You are supposed to turn the temperature down by 0.5 C during lockdown but I forgot this so they had been running about 0.5 C higher than usual for about 4 days. I’m really worried about my quail eggs. Any help would be much appreciated!!
