Help why are my chickens busting thier eggs???

Well I find that mine will eat eggs only if they're dying of thirst they will break and eat
them to stay alive!!! So I'm careful to keep lots of water and food with them and they
dont usually break them.

Oh wow, rhubarb, I never thought of thirst! Interesting stuff. Gotta add that to the list of why hens eat their eggs. Mine dont, except for the odd shell-less or thin-shelled egg. But SO many people ask about this. Good to know.

Hi again. We put a couple of wood eggs in the nesting boxes to at least discourage the pecking...no broken eggs so far. Got two fresh eggs. Added more oyster shells to the crumble for food. Wait and see.
