Hi all,

I've got 10x 2 week old pekin chicks that seem to be doing well asathistisa my first lot of chicks imI not 100% sure as whatsw the best things to do eg. Food at what weeks do I change to growers pellets and what age totstartt on layers pellets.

Also at what age can I put them outside in the run with mymotherm chickens I have 28 hens and 2 Cockerell.

And any advice I can get on when and how hi can sex them would be great

Thanks iniadvance

Pekins can be sexed at 6+weeks, they mature quickly, cockerels will have noticeably redder comb and more wattle development. Feed is typically switched to grower at 6-10 weeks, if you want to switch it. Layers feed can be fed once they start laying, but you could just continue feeding them grower and free choice oyster shell. They can be spending a few hours outside whenever as long as it’s not cold and they have somewhere to huddle in if they’re cold. They can be moved outside when they have the feathers they need at 5-6 weeks. They’ll need integrating into your flock like any other chicken but seen as though there’s quite a big group of them, it shouldn’t be too difficult, people get round this by brooding their chicks in the coop with flock. Oh and welcome to Backyard Chickens! :)
