Ok we brought home 4 silikies the other day that were a week old and put them in with our 4 Black copper Marans.. one Silkie died hour after we got home figured he was just over stressed .. the others starting slowing down sleeping alot kinda lathargic and started have runny caramel looking stools so we seperated the silikies from our marans.. Im not sure the silkies are going to make it, but I need to do what i can to stop the marans from getting sick.. The wife is on the way to Tractor supply to pick up 20% corid and medicated feed..

I need to know how much of this stuff to add to a gallon of water for week old chicks and if there is anything else I can do thanks for anyhelp!!

Dosage for the corid 20% soluable powder is 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of water for 5-7 days. Dont add anything else to the mixture. If they are sick, they may not drink it, or drink enough of it to be effective. You might have to use an eyedropperful of the mixture and put a drop or two on the side of their beak to drink. You'll have to do this 5-6 times a day for each sick bird until they are healthy enough to drink the mixture on their own.

OK Awesome thanks for the reply she also pick up Sav a chick probiotics, Sav a chick electrolyte vitamin packets.. and also she pick up some other kind of antibiotic burmicilian? not sure of spelling.. but anyway I guess for right now just use the Corid right?

oh and is it OK to use the corid with medicated chick starter will that overdose them?

You can give them the probiotic after the corid treatment. You dont need the rest of that stuff. Too much of a good thing can be just as harmful as well. It's ok to give them the medicated chick starter, but if they get diarrhea switch to non medicated chick starter.

Ok sounds good started the marans on the corid water I was just about to give them the medicated feed and saw that they too now have runny brown stools so ill keep them on there normal food dumor chick starter.. the medicated feed is purina ill start using that maybe in a few weeks if everything clears up.

Ok the other medication she has is Duramycin-10 we are not going to use it but she got it anyway just in case and the guy at tractor suply said they only get it once a year and once its gone its gone till this time next year so now we have a emergency medicine cabinet now anyway..

Personally, I'd return the duramycin 10 and get my money back. It is a soluable powder...sick birds wont drink, if they do drink... they dont
drink enough of the mixture to be effective. Additionally, duramycin 10 has a 3 week egg withdrawal period.

Ok will do thanks for all your help.. We do think our marans have it they are eating and drinking right now but having runny stools and seem to be sleeping longer I'm not sure if the sleeping more is what chicks do when they get a lil older or not the were sleeping for a few mins then snap up and wake everyone else up.. Now sleeping for 10-15 mins.. ? Hopefully we have caught this in time..
