Help with 6 wk old peachick with breathing problem..so confused with what to do!

So most likely my pea has cocci..but the other 2 seem fine..only treat the one with corid or should i treat the other 2 also even tho their separated?
I will treat my outside chicks with safe gaurd.
What about my question about feed n last post. Do u have any insite on that because of their age..they are under heat lamp because of being inside.
You can treat just the one, or all of them with Corid, it's harmless.

Safeguard for ones that have been on dirt for several weeks is fine.

As for feed, I feed mine 27% turkey starter that has bacitracin in it. Bacitracin will not prevent coccidiosis, but might prevent necrotic enteritis. I feed this to mine for several months and they do fine. We all feed different things, so I don't think there's a correct or wrong answer.

Can you get a poop sample to a vet?

The peachicks have never been on dirt just my chicks when they got to that age. Since my peas are 6 weeks old should they be on the 20% protein game feed at what age dhould i switch to medicated reg chick start feed?

All my adults do best around 21% protein year round. The only reason i say 18% chick starter is because they eat 24/7 when under lights and legs can grow too quickly and cause problems. If you compare chicks raised by mother to chicks in brooder the brooder ones look huge and when I kept mine on 28% feed I had slipped tendons all the time. The grove doesn't have time to form in back of leg when they grow that quick.

Does the gamebird starter you feed have a blackhead preventative?

-Kathy

Nope just amprollium and bacitracin, 21% protein. For blackhead, strict isolation between chicks and peachicks plus acidified copper sulfate at 6 weeks or after 3 if anyone even blinks wrong for 5 days.It is labeled as a supplement to maintain healthy gut function for chickens and turkeys and keep waterers clean. Just can't use on metal waterers.

Weird i gound where you both have answered but not put at end..it way up on the conversation. Thank u both yall have been heeps of help!

Ok i have been giving them purina chick starter non medicated. Going to get gamebird starter medicated from southern states. Think it has a 20 plus protein but i will make sure it has those ingredients u listed. If its higher than 20 percent should i mix the 2?

The medication used to prevent coccidiosis is amprolium, so that's what to look for. Bonus if it has bacitracin, but bacitracin does not prevent anything but necrotic enteritis.

Do not mix feeds. Doing so will dilute the amount of medication needed.

Purina make a 22% medicated "Flock Raiser", but I think you would have to order it. I think it's called Flock Raiser MP 125 or something similar.

Just to be clear, medicated feed will *not* treat coccidiosis, it's just a preventative. Even chicks being fed feed with amprolium *can* get coccidiosis. Treatment is amprolium (Corid, Amprol, AmproMed, ec), or a sulfa antibiotic.

Feeds with blackhead preventatives... I have only ever seen one made by Blue Seal, and I think it's called turkey grower HS.
