This 8 week crème legbar chick had fat(ter) cheeks than the rest when we got them. She was more sleepy than the rest and a loner. She didn’t have the long neck and never stretched it up like the other. This a.m. she’s just so big. She has no neck and her chest is jutted out. Her left side more than right side. She drinks and eats and runs from me when I put my hand down

Found her this morning laying out like in a dust bath and not wanting to get up like her very active and rambunctious sisters. Is she sick?

If she is sick with something like coccidiosis, treat her with Corid. Coccidiosis symptoms are sleepiness, runny poops, not eating, standing hunched or puffed up.

If her chest feels like air under the skin, she may have a rupture or leaking air sac. Is she having any trouble breathing or making a click sound when she breathes? Her crop is on her right upper chest, and that normally fills up with food and water each time she eats. A leaking air sac can be left alone to be reabsorbed by the body if she is not having problems breathing, or if it is not getting bigger. If it needs to be treated, you can use an 18 gauge needle just barely through the skin, and either push the air out or withdraw it in a large syringe. Get help to do this. Here is a video on how to treat a leaking air sac:

She so fluffy, but not squishy. I felt a hard lump under her beak on the left side. It a hard nodule that doesn’t move. I have her in isolation with just water. After 1 week after getting her she kept doing a head flick which I treated as illness with Corid, then a week with rooster booster.
