Hi guys, I've never had a chicken with a cracked beak before and I need guidance. How bad does this look? What can I do to help him? I don't even know how this happened and I haven't dared to touch him but looks like an U/V-shaped crack across both sides of the beak. 😟

So far I've only managed to isolate him and give him soft food like wet bread and mashed potatoes... He doesn't seem to be able to eat seeds but maybe it's because he's in pain?...

One of my hens had the entire majority of her beak chip off, and I isolated her with oatmeal and she got it to fall off on her own. She is fine now, and contrary to popular belief, it grew back 🧐 died his appear to be falling off?

Well, I finally touched it and it looks like at least one side of it could detach from the rest of the beak...

Not an expert here but I would leave it be and give him softened food until it heals or falls off. If he acts like he’s in pain or it comes loose you will probably need to do something about it. I’ve had two with cracked beaks that weren’t as bad as his and they both grew out eventually.

Guys, the rooster lost the tip of his beak and he can't pick up the food. I am aware that the beak can grow back but he needs to feed himself in the meantime and I can't take him to a vet until next week. What can I do?

Have you tried giving him food soaked with warm water in a deep bowl? Are you just watching him eat or have you checked to see how full his crop is?

Yes, I gave him wet food in a dog plate. I watched him eat and he missed every peck. He managed to grab the biggest pieces once in a while, but most of them fell to the ground and he couldn't pick them up. I had to offer him food with my hand.

At the end of the day, I checked his crop and it was empty.
