Help with a money saving plan?

I disagree- if you really learn how to clip you can save lots of money. But it takes time-much more time than just clipping. I dedicate 2-3 hours a week on coupons. My last grocery trip I saved $131 with coupons. Only spent $40 on groceries. Also you can make a little bit of money selling coupons on ebay. There are coupon classes and websites that will do weekly matchups for business such as CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, and others. Just search Matchups_______ (whatever store you are looking for) If you are really dedicated to saving money you really can. You have to watch the sale ads and find grocery stores that will double or even triple coupons. The grocery store I go to will double up to $0.50 and anything that is $0.51 and up to a dollar they will just raise to a $1. WHich is awesome. Some days they will have triple day where they will triple your coupons.

Somethings it does pay to buy generic, but youc an save a lot on coupons for things like toilet paper, laundry detergent, shampoo, razors, frozen foods, and many other things. I never pay full price for catfood/dog food. Purex Laundry detergent has been having great sales and I had $3 off coupons...I now have enough Purex to do almost 600 loads and I only spent around $40 on it all.

If you need any help feel free to PM me.

And if you live rual doing this is even harder most stores around here wont double past a certian amount and none triple anything. It does take alot of work/time that alot of people don't have. But if you have the time and where withall to play the coupon game its worth it.

^^Must be the area-- I live about 15 miles from a grocery store and they are all very helpful.

I drive to Springfield (35 miles) and it still pays for my fuel to go down there

also you can print coupons from the internet from sites like www.couponbug.com and many others

Walmart and Dollar General are very coupon friendly too!

Another way to save money with coupons is to clip the coupons for brand name items of products your family uses and just hold onto them. Check the clearance rack first thing when you go to the store. You can use coupons on clearance items! I have got some stuff for pennies, some for free, and in a few cases the store has actually paid me to carry something out of the store. For example, I had a $1.00 coupon for a 4-pack of Yoplait Yogurt. It was on a manager's clearance for 99c because it was getting close to expiration, so I got the yogurt free plus a penny in my pocket. And the yogurt was gone an hour later when the kids spied it in the fridge so it never had a chance to go bad! I also got a dozen cans of Campbells mushroom soup for free when they were on sale for 49c a piece and I had a coupon for 50c/2 but the store doubles coupons so I bought two, was charged 98c, used the coupon and doubled it and got $1 off. Free soup and two pennies in my pocket. Luckily I had 6 coupons so was able to get a dozen cans free.

But it is smart to always check the generic price. If I will save even one penny by getting the name brand and using the coupon I'll do it. But if it is going to cost me more than buying the generic, I just get the generic.

Oh, and sign up for digital coupons. Sometimes they will put out a digital coupon for a store brand of something. For example, Kroger will sometimes put out banner brand coupons so you can get the cheap brand and save a little via the coupon.

a lot of saving also depends on where you live, I live a minimum of 30 min for any large shopping area. So I plan, use a list, do as much in one trip as possible, buy on sale, some generics are not as good as brand( you use more or they don't work as good) you need to look long term not just short, we get a side of beef and a whole pig yearly this looks pricey at first but in the long run its a lot less expensive and its cut the way I want no waste. grow my own chicken/turkey/poultry, the one thing I do the most to save money is never buy pre-made, make it your self, mac-cheese, cakes, brownies, spaghetti sauce etc... it tastes better and is better for you

stick with the basics, and go simple

Does anyone sell eggs? How much do you sell them for?

I sell eggs for $2 a dozen with carton exchange, $2.25 without carton and if you buy more than 5 dozen at a time the price drops $0.50 per dozen. I don't have any regulars yet this season.

I have in the past made Angel Food Cakes for people and iced them. Charged $5 for un-iced and $7 for iced. Sold those a time or two. In the summer I sell my salsa to some of the neighbors and DH's coworkers. And sometimes I sell bread to one lady. She ordered 6 loaves last time. I charge $3 a loaf.

Here is a pic of one of my cakes:
