Help with breed and gender please?

We ordered three “dark brown egg layer surplus pullets” to add to our small flock of 6 chickens. This chicken, however, doesn’t seem to match up with any of the breeds that the site said we could end up with (French Cuckoo Marans, French Black Copper Marans, French Black Marans, French Wheaten Marans,Barnevelders)

We also combined our order with my husbands coworker, so maybe she gave us the wrong bird.

I heard some crowing in the yard this morning that wasn’t our resident rooster’s (he was right in front of me, so I’m 100% sure it wasn’t him)

Any insight into what he/she is, would be much appreciated. I apologize for the photo quality. It’s the best I can get until tonight when I make sure they all went to bed.

X2 Most definitely a cockerel, and a mixed breed. Could be an Easter Egger, do you know if she ordered any of those?

Might be hatchery mistake, or you could trade back that EE roo for the brown egg layer at your friends house... What kind of chickens did she order?

I have no idea what she ordered, but glad to see an consensus is that it’s a he. We ordered from Cackle Hatchery. Their site says they have a 90% success rate with gendering most breeds except French marans which is 75%. But if he’s mixed or EE then we most likely have one of her birds it seems.

he is an EE for sure, (that is a Ameraucana mixed with any other breed.
