Help with breed and sexing

My kids were given these two chickens as part of the elementary school agriculture program. And we decided to roll with it. DH just built them a very nice coop and run. They are roughly 10-12 weeks old.

Any idea what type of chicken I have? We are hoping for hens, but I have a sneaky suspicious that the yellow one is a rooster. Thoughts?

They are both cockerels. The buff may be a orpington cross and the other is an EE.

How can you tell they both cockerels?

The comb, wattles, and beginning hackle feathers on the buff as well as the color and beginning hackle and saddle feathers on the EE pretty much indicate that they are male.

Yep they are both cockerels.The multi colored one is an easter egger and am not sure what the other is, possibly a buff orpington.

Ugh. Can I keep both of them or does one of them need to go? They are both pets to my boys.

Your buff is likely a buff rock because of the yellow legs and is a boy. your other is an EE and is a boy also

I would wait until hormones kick in to see how well they get along and then decide if one needs to go.
