Hello! I purchased 6 new birds to add to my flock a few months ago, and instead of going to a local breeder I decided to purchase some chicks from the local Rural King. I went in expecting Buff Orpingtons, RIR etc and instead, they had breeds that I haven't heard of....and that were unmarked.

The lady told me the type and I can't remember :( please help!

I have two Easter Eggers...I can tell because their legs are green but the four others...I'm at a loss. They look very similar to me. The two brown/red ones in the back right of the picture are the same breed (I think) whereas the brown/red bird with white speckles (to the left of the white easter egger) is the same as the last chick in the cage that you cannot see. The one in the cage is more white with some brown/red speckles.

The one in the cage looks like a red sex link cockerel. The one to the left of the white bird looks like a potential red sex link pullet, or a production red. The birds behind the white bird look like hatchery New Hampshire, production red or red broilers.

Oh man :/ this is a doozy for me. Ive attached more pictures of the suspected cockerel. Are all the breeds that have been mentioned (red sex link, production red) good layers? From what I've read they seem very similar

See, that's the problem with posting a picture of half a bird. Can you get a picture of the whole bird? Looks less like a red sex link cockerel and more like a pullet.

Any of the generic red chickens sold by hatcheries will probably be excellent layers.
