Oh and last update - the remaining Marans was just exploded yolk (may have had a small chick but didnt' go further just binned it) and most devastatingly the Cream Legbar was dead (tried all the tests this afternoon - candling then water, tapping, listeningi etc - nothing. I expected to find an off yolk but there was a fully (almost??) grown chick just dead. so sad but happy considering all that I got 6 from the original 12. Next time I'll put all cream legbars I think!
