Help with building run

Make sure you have a door that you can operate to get in and out, If I had to do mine over again I would build the door so that I had to step over a ledge about a foot so that chickens were not trying to escape at the worst inopportune time. Also have a latch or a sting to pull from the inside that will work the latch from the outside to make sure you are not ever locked in your super secure enclosure. There is nothing funnier than having to be left out. Other wise I think it looks great. The great thing about a coop is that you can always modify it to suit your needs

Ya knowJoieD, I was outside covering the maters in a 9000 MPH wind and I got to thinking that the end wall of the run should be bolted on. That way in the spring or fall when you did a major clean up, you could lock the hens in the coop, pull the wall off and have very easy access to clean it out. Also in the future, if you decided to expand, it would be all ready for an extension.

back to the wind...

All of these great suggestions made me want to get started and thanks to justafeedboy, I will never lock myself in the coop. It's all in the details. Another reason I wanted to gather this information is because my husband isn't much of a builder. Good at lots of stuff, but not building. But he said he would do what ever I told him to do.

Guess that makes me the project manager. Anyway the last thing I want is to have too many do overs because I'm afraid he will quit on me!
