when would I have to intervene? I don't want to but if I have to I will! Is it normal for them to externally pipe then wait a whole then Crack the shell again then wait a while?
Yes to all. they work a while then rest then go at it again, remember casportpony said it could take 24 hrs just keep close watch. I'm sure Lacrystol and Kathy will be here shortly to give you advise. Just hang in there.

After 24 hours of the first crack in the egg I chip the shell down enough for them to pull themselves out of the egg. Don't you pull them out, the duckling must do it for themselves.

FWIW, I get the best results by letting them do their own thing with the humidity nice and high, like 70% or more. All vents should be wide open.

Humidity is at 75 bc I added water earlier it stabilizes around 70 I'm scared to open the incubator though 1 hasn't done anything 1 has just externally pipped through out the night and 2 have been working on their shells. Should I just take a piece off of each but the 4th one? I thought thay if the humidity goes down from opening the incubator it shrink wraps them in the membrane? Today is day 28. Here is what is going on.

The last time I hatched ducklings I must have opened it several times each day the last few days and none were shrink-wrapped. I would not pick at the shells of the pipped ones, but I would candle the one that has not pipped. How many hours has it been since the first one pipped?

75% humidity is fine.
