Help with Chick leg extended

This little one was fine this morning, it is in the nest with a hen. The leg cannot be bent at all now. What do I do? I have not experienced this on a newborn yet.

I was finally able to slip the tendon back in place and tape it. It is much more comfortable now.

After taping it last night and checking this afternoon, the thigh bone was broken. I have splinted the thigh and put it back under the brooder. The leg is straight, it can bend the leg. Anything else I can do?

Has anyone been successful with a broken thigh?

We have set and cast a few lower legs, I suppose the upper thigh would be the same. It takes about two weeks for the bone to mend.

What about antibiotics? When I listen to
His chest I can hear a few crackles. Just got it eating good today.

It wouldn't hurt to give antibiotics and a pain reliever. Children's liquid Asprin @ 0.10 ml orally is what I give for a yearling, we should ask @casportpony for correct dosing.

@casportpony do you know the dose for children’s liquid aspirin and an antibiotic for a hatchling ~ 1 week.

We are getting the chick to eat ( chick feed mixed with water to make a thick broth). It eats well in the morning but not interested at night.

I thought we were going to lose it last night but it was bright eyed this morning.
