Wow, did you check carefully INSIDE the coop? The hen refusing to go in and then disappearing makes me think you may have a possum hiding in the bedding.

So sorry you have had so many attacks. I think it is probably related to predators having babies they have to feed this time of year.

well it is the time of the year when I start seeing baby possums and coons. I started seeing coyote pups back in march

Caught a coon this am. Younger chicks are fairing well inside the coop and traps are still set.

Do armadillo kill chickens? They are new in this area.

How would you bait for a weasle or mink?

Would a coon have made multiple kills taking off the heads eating some guts them come back later for the bodies or does that sound like the weasle or mink or something else?
