Hey guys,
My silkie came down with coryza. At first I only had erythromycin so while I was searching for Tylan soluble I used that to get rid of the cheese buildup in her eyes and some of the swelling. Tylan was supposed to be quick (5-7 days of treatment) but I’m on day 10 and she’s still significantly swollen on both sides and while she doesn’t have that signature stink or yellow build up, she’s still producing slightly smelly snot (only smelly up close). She still can’t eat or drink independently unless I’m holding her and offering the bowl and then she has a great appetite. Shes doing all the chicken things. Can someone reassure me if this treatment just takes longer on silkies 😓 I can’t keep her medicated forever but I’m scared she’s just going to relapse.

Welcome To BYC

Infectious Coryza is best treated with a Sulfa antibiotic.

Tylosin is geared more for treating Mycoplasma as is Erythromycin.

Continue to flush and push out pus from around the eyes, apply a little Terramycin eye ointment in the eye. Do this 2X a day at least.
