Need some help here... Really hoping for 6-8 laying hens (barred rock preferred) but bought a small lot of 10 local birds that were billed as anywhere from 6-10 weeks and originally bought as barred rock. I'm hoping for some hens at least, naturally more is better. Thoughts? It seems like this breed you don't have any certainty until they either crow or lay an egg.

. I think my birds are 12 weeks now. I believe 3 roosters for sure -with strong possibility of two 'unknown' barred rock birds with moderate combs being roosters as well. Should still have 5 hens if I'm evaluating sex appropriately. Sorry for pics thru the fence, I was leaving for a family picnic & snuck in a few photos. Thoughts?

From the pics I have no idea how many are roosters, but they're the lighter colored birds with red combs. Pullets of this age won't have red, and they're darker. If you have questions on a specific bird feel free to post a pic of it.

Thanks, both of the birds in question are the ones in pic 1 of my second post. They both have combs that are much smaller in size than the other roosters, and are lighter in color. I'm not sure of the bloodlines of these birds, and I was told some hens get large combs -so I was not sure if color was a gaurantee or if I should wait.
