Help with diatomacious earth

After reading about this product, I decided I wanted to try it for my small flock of 25 hens. Actually found it at my local farmers co-op, but realized after I opened it that it was not flour-like or powdery like I had read it should be. This is more granulated, but it reads 100% pure and for animals so I assumed it was the same! The product is mfg. by Animed products. Is this what I need or did I waste my money? Help please, and many thanks in advance. Gail

Can you please post a photo?

I use Diatomacious Earth to keep ants away in the summer, and it is floury/powdery. Could you also post a link to where you bought it from?

Yes it is supposed to be powdery. Maby it got wet and then it hardened .

Probably, DE isn't good for much, IMO.
What is your goal for using DE?
But, yes @GailT, please do post a pic or link of the exact product you bought

It's not suppose to look like that. It is suppose to be powdery. I use DE for a few reasons.

Yea looks like everyone is having that problem. I'd return it and buy something else. Big R* sells food grade DE.

*edit: sorry its called Stock and Field now. My store still says Big R though

Take it back and get your money back......it won't kill or prevent mites.
