Hi, I need some help and guidance. A friend of mine got a duck for his kid for Easter, of course. But they decide they didnt want it so I took it to care for and love and it seems lonely. I was wondering if I got another duckling if it’d cheer up?

Whenever I get new ducks or chickens, I like to get more than one. I feel that my ducks are happier when they have friends. In my experience, my birds are happier with friends. But it is up to you if you want to get more ducks. More ducks require more time, care, and money. If that is something you want to do, and are fully prepared to care for the ducks for as long as they live, then get more. The duck you have now might be happpier. Bringing in another duck while your current duck is a baby should make the introduction process faster, smoother, and without potential injuries. But please keep in mind that this is my experience and opinion.

Your in for a treat ;)
Do you know what kinda of duck it is
Sex of the duck
Short answer is yes get it a friend
Ducks are very lonely little things
Also advise if this is not something you have the time or entergy to commit to please do not continue any further and find him a good home
Not discouraging at all I promise
They are just a commitment
I got two as a gift because I had always mentioned wanting a duck
I had no idea what I was in for
I love them with my whole heart and have committed to them
I am a whole dif person with duck pens outside inside duck pools messes toys diapers treats
Unless you are strictly looking at having just a yard type of thing which is also fine he will want a friend and just watch for predators
They are a blast no matter how you handle it ;)
Good luck
