Hi, this is one of my rescue hens I have posted about in the for sale section. I am concerned that this one may be eggbound, but I have no experience and I may be wrong. Please help me decide what to do.....
She was rescued a week and a half ago (legal confiscation by the authorities) and I have no history on her.
I have noticed that when I pick her up, she seems to have a swollen abdomen/rear end area
It also feels hot to me
I don't know for sure if she's laying or not, (3 eggs a day out of 4 rescue hens) but I suspect not....

1) What type of bird , age and weight. unknown age, a rescue hen I've had for a week and a half or so, a golden comet or RIR, feels very heavy for her size, I think due to swollen abdomen
2) What is the behavior, exactly. Behavior is normal, eating drinking and walking. I thinks she feels OK, but she lets me do anything to her and I can't help wondering if she ought to be protesting more when I squeeze her abdomen.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? I guess for a week and a half
4) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. no
5) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. no
6) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. purina chick grow, free choice oyster shell, fresh water, weeds and grass
7) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. normal
8) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? hot bubble bath in the sink a couple of days ago. I gloved up and put a finger up her cloaca, and palpated her abdomen, and I think I feel a hard mass in her intestine OR egg duct; shaped like an irregular bananna, or like a hardish large mass of feces or ????? NOT egg shaped or round. I applied some neosporin because it is the only lube I have, but I don't know how to get in to the oviduct and not the rectum!?! Still no change in her, and I put a finger up there again just now and I can still feel the odd shaped mass.
9 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? I need to treat myself
10) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. below
11) Describe the housing/bedding in use free range in a 50 x 75 area with 3 other rescue hens and a dog cage with hay and a lock for nighttime

Thank you. I read everything about eggbound; but still don't know how to get lube in to the egg area instead of just the rectum. Hmmm...and also the hard irregular longish mass thing has me stumped.....I can move it around but can't get it quite to come out...
