When you say the mom is a mixed barred rock, do you mean she has barring or not? The dad will pass on his barring, but if the hen doesnt have a copy of the barring gene any boys would have the same darker barring like the females.[/QUOTE
The mixed barred rock mom is barred. She looks just like these chicks, just bigger.
