Welcome aboard. You will love it here. Hope someone can answer your questions. Please post pics of your chicken family and the new babies if you can.

And to Anarie, the chicken color calculator is great.!!! I had never seen that before.

I know next to nothing about genetics but do have a couple splash/buff crosses. Mine are Orps not Cochins if that makes a difference.

First cockerel, hatched Dec 9th:

The second cockerel from the cross (have not had any pullets yet) taken April 18th – almost 7 weeks old

Mine hatch blue and then the buff/orange starts to come in. Wish I could get a pullet.

Annarie, thank you for the website. I did not know that exsisted. Now to go play with chicken colors!

As soon as I figure out posting on here I will submitt some photos.

thanks for the patience.

just an update on my partridge cochin / buff orpington cross hatchlings. They came out feather legged and buff in color as baby chicks. Now as they are getting older, they are getting some brown in their wings . I also had a white cochin hen hatch a single egg with the same rooster( my only rooster). Little smokie is cute. Came out a little fluff ball with white under neath and grey/black "tips" on the fluff. Smokie is going on 2 months old and is now turning a lovely shade of solid light grey ( Blue). Hope she stays that color ! I need to take some photos so I can post them.
Thanks for all the earlier help.

Tina:)
